Generally, this research was done to determine the relationship of work attitude and academic performance of the student assistants of Olivarez College for the school year 2009-2010. This study entitled Correlation of Work Attitude and Academic Performance of Olivarian Student Assistant: Basis for Holistic Approach-based Enhancement Program in selected respondents in Olivarez College sought to answer the following specific questions: 1. Based on the findings of the study, what enhancement program for student assistants can be proposed? The descriptive method of research was used in this study. According to Key (1997), descriptive research is used to obtain information concerning the current status of the phenomena to describe what exists with respect to relationship of variables in a situation. The methods involved ranged from the questionnaire which describes the status quo, to the correlation study which determines the relationship of work attitude and academic performance of the student assistants of Olivarez College inside the workplace and Classrooms respectively.

A total of 41 respondents were involved in this study. The researchers used the probability sampling in this particular study the probability sampling known here as random sampling, this involves selecting a group of subjects for the study in equal chances. The researchers used sets of data gathering instruments. The use of self-made survey questionnaire was floated to the respondents to generate the needed data in terms of their profile and grades obtained during the period of semesters. Data collection was also used in order to get the performances of the respondents in their particular workplaces. These materials were sources of information to determine the lover-all outcome of the study. The researchers used the five-point Likerts scale to rate the perception of the respondents and to describe the meaning of each computed score.

The statistical treatment used in this study were percentage, frequency, weighted mea, ANOVA, and pearson product correlation coefficient. Summary of Findings The study revealed the following findings: 1. As to profile of the Respondents 1.1 Gender Based on the data presented showing the frequency and percentage distribution of the respondents, it revealed that 23 of the respondents or 56% were male and 18 of the respondents or 44% were female. 1.2 Age As to age, out 41 respondents, 7.31 were ages 16-17 years old; 34.15% of the respondents were ages 18-19 years old; 13.71% were ages 20-21 years old; and 26.83 were ages 22-23. 1.3 Academic Year Level Data divulged that 21.95% of the respondents were freshmen students; 26.83 belong to sophomore; and 51.22% were junior students. 1.4 Academic Course Gleaned on the data , it was noted that 17% of the respondents were taking up Business Management and Computer Science courses; 5% were under Marketing Management, Education and Tourism courses; 22% were students majoring Operations Management; 2% was under the Hotel and Restaurant Management; and zero respondent for courses AB Mass Communication and Political Science.

2. As to how do respondents perform in academics as reflected in their True Copy of Grades (TCG) for the First and Second Semesters of school year 2009-2010, as regards Major and Minor Subjects. 2.1 Major Based on the statistics presented, it revealed 7% of the respondents obtained the scale value measure of 1.00-1.50 which means excellent in terms of performance in academics; 90% with the interpretation of above average gleaned on scale value measure 1.51-2.50; 3% conferred to a scale value measure of 2.51-3.50 with interpretation of average in performances inside the classroom arena; and scale value measures of 3.51-5.00 garnered zero based on data tabulated.

2.2 Minor

The data revealed that 7% of the respondents obtained the scale value measure between 1.001.50 which means excellent in academic performances; 90% with the interpretation of above average gleaned on scale value measure of 1.51-2.50; 3% conferred to a scale value of 2.51-3.50 with interpretation of average in performances inside the classroom arena; and scale value measures of 3.515.00 garnered zero based on tabulated data. 3. Is there a significant difference on the academic performance of the respondents as reflected in their True Copy of Grades (TCG) when grouped according to academic course? The null hypothesis was accepted based on the criterion set. The data revealed that Fcomputed value is 2.203 at 0.05 level of significance, df numerator 7 and denominator 33 which is less that the F- tabular or critical value of 2.303. Conferred also on the data that P-value is 0.06 which is higher than 0.05 level of significance therefore, the decision to accept the hypothesis of no significant difference on the academic performance of the repondents as reflected in their True Copy of Grades (TCG) when grouped according to academic course was accepted.

4. How do respondents perform in their workplace as reflected in their Performance Evaluation Rating for the first and second semesters of school year 2009-2010, as regards Job related Performance and Personal Qualities 4.1 Job related Performance Gleaned on the data showing the scale value measures 1.00-5.00, 46% of the respondents obtained the highest scale value measures between 1.00-1.50 which is interpreted as excellent in job related performances; 37% of the respondents got the above average with the scale measures between 1.51-2.50; 12% with the interpretation of average gleaned in scale value measure between 2.51-3.50; 3% conferred to a scale value measure between 3.51-4.50 with interpretation of below average in performances inside their workplaces; and scale value measures 4.51-5.00 garnered zero based on data tabulated.

4.2 Personal Qualities Gleaned on the result obtained, 59% among the respondents achieved the highest scale value measures of 1.00-1.50 which is interpreted as excellent in performances to workplace specifically in their personal qualities; 29% of the respondents got the above average with the scale value measures of between 1.51-2.50; 12% with the interpretation of average gleaned on scale value measure of between 2.51-3.50; and scale value measures 3.51-5.00 garnered zero based on data tabulated.

5. Is there a significant difference on the performance of the respondents as reflected in their performance evaluation rating when grouped according to academic course? The data revealed that the F-computed value is 1.261 at 0.05 level of significance, df numerator 7 and denominator is 33 which is less than the F-tabular value or critical value of 2.303. Shown also on the data P. value is 0.03 which is less than 0.05 level of significance. Therefore, according to the criterion, the decision on null hypothesis was rejected and accepted the alternative one of there is a significant difference on the performances of the respondents as reflected in their Performance Evaluation rating when grouped according to academic course.

6. Is there a significant relationship betweenm academic performance and work attitude of the respondents in their True Copy of Grades (TCG) and Performance Evaluation Rating? The correlation coefficient of 0.681 suggests a positive correlation between the academic performance and work attitude of the respondents from first to third year level of the selected student assistants of Olivarez College at 0.05 level of significance. 7. Based on the findings of this study, a proposed holistic approach-based enhancement program for student assistants of Olivarez College was made and is presented in Appendix A. Conclusions This study has therefore summed up the following conclusions to wit: 1. It revealed that the study is dominated by male respondents. It revealed that ages 16-17 years old occupy the least in terms of frequency and ages 18-19 years old predominant age in among the respondents. Mostly of the students were in third yealrlevel.Lastly, it manifests on the study that psychology was the predominant course of the respondents.

2. The researchers concluded that the majority of the respondents perform well inside the class whether in their major or minor subjects with the interpretation of above average. 3. It revealed on this study that the performances obtained by the respondents in academics during school year 2009-2010, first and second semesters have no significant difference at 0.05 level of significance. 4. The researchers concluded that majority of the respondents are performing excellent and above average on job related performances in their particular workplace. Furthermore, the researchers added that most of the respondents are performing excellent in terms of personal qualities identified by their immediate supervisors in their particular place of work.

5. The performances obtained by the respondents in their semester performance evaluation during the school year 2009-2010, first and second semesters have a significant difference at 0.05 level of significance. 6. The correlation coefficient of 0.681 suggests that there is a positive correlation beteen the academic performance and work attitude of the respondents fro first to third year level of the selected student assistants of Olivarez Collegeat 0.05 level of significance. 7. The proposed enhancement program was considered for there is a significant relationship on academic performance and work attitude of the respondents as reflected in their TCG and Performance Evaluation rating.

Based on the findings of this study, the proposed holistic approach-based enhancement program for student assistant of Olivarez College may serve as a guide for the entire society. See Appendix A. Recommendations The following recommendations were derived from the findings and conclusions stated from this study. 1. Working student assistants of Olivarez College should acquire discipline in their studies and in their work. Discipline will help working students of Olivarez College to effectively dedicate their time in more productive things and train themselves to handle their tasks more efficiently. 2. Working student assistants of Olivarez College should know their priorities. They should put their studies on topin order for them to prevent low performance in school resulting to failing grades. Knowing their priorities would help them realize which things should be given more time and effort.

3. People surrounding the student assistants at work should be more aware of the roles they play and how they affect the working students. They should be the ones to persuade the working students to give more effort in balancing their studies and work. 4. The family should play as a great role in shaping the minds of the working student assistants. The family should be sensitive with their emotional and physical needs. Moreover, support coming from their family helps them tp continue believing that they can with stand all the stress and pressure brought by their work. 5. There must be proper dissemination of existing Student Assistants Manual to their immediate superior/s so that they will be able to be acquainted well with the extent of student assistants duties and responsibilities inside their workplaces.

6. The researchers recommend the specific program in their proposed holistic approach-based enhancement program such as Spiritual and academic Enhancement for the researchers alone were not able to experience it during their stay at the organization of Student Assistant. 7. Student Assistants of Olivarez College must be given the chance by the administration to avail of other scholarship grants. There are some student assistants who could avail of being in a Deans Lister and even Presidents Lister. Working student assistants are less privileged in terms of financial needs that is why they decided to enter in such a scholarship; working alone inside the institution does not guarantee them to finish college. There are tough times where they cannot pay for tuition debts especially during final examinations and enrollment period so by allowing them for other scholarships, they will be able to finish their studies.
