Definition Organic Food is the agricultural produce that farmers make on the countrys regulation and without agricultural chemicals and fertilizer . Organic Food is very safety for human body, and contains much more vitamins, calcium, iron than non-organic one. Moreover, organic foods taste and smell are more rich than that one. For these reasons, the popularity of organic food is developing. But when making it, it costs much to protect from harmful insect. Organic food has both a popular meaning, and, in some countries, a legal definition.

In everyday conversation, it usually refers to all naturally produced foods, or the product of organic farming. As a legal term, it means certified organic. The distinction is important, as the two definitions can represent quite different products. Types of organic food Organic food, like food in general, can be grouped into two categories, fresh and processed, based on production methods, availability and consumer perception. Fresh food is seasonal and highly perishable. Fresh produce ? vegetables and fruits ? is the most available type of organic food, and closely associated with organic farming.

It is often purchased directly from the growers, at farmers markets, from on-farm stands, through specialty food stores, and through community-supported agriculture (CSA) projects. Unprocessed animal products ? organic meat, eggs, dairy ? are less common. Prices are significantly higher than for conventional food, and availability is lower. They are still premium priced items. The ratio of organic foods sections and non-organic section is 4:1. If you do not be careful, you can not notice the existence. There are no advertisement and special sign for organic foods. In TESCO Organic foods section is among non-organic sections. Organic section is just one like Marks and Spencer. The ratio is also 4:1. There is no advertisements for organic foods at the TESCO.

But the truth is that in this supermarket is easier to find the organic food because is better organized than in the others;at least the vegetables and fruits are situated in the same zone as you can watch in the picture 1. For example,the extra virgin oil of TESCO costs 53p each 100 ml if the oil is organic and 38p per 100ml if this is non-organic product. We can check that obviously this organic oil is more expensive that the non-organic one.

Now,in ASDA supermarket the organic extra virgin oil costs 53p/100 ml and 39p/100ml if is non organic. In this case,the two supermarkets has similar prices for this product. are But if wed compare all the products we realize than in TESCO the difference of price of the organic food and non-organic food is bigger than in ASDA and SAINSBURY. What information is given on the label of this products? When I go to the supermarket, I can tell organically produced food from conventionally produced looking at package labels and watchin for signs in the supermarket.

Every shop has the labels that says just organic before the name of foods. The labels are similar with other labels of non-organic foods except letter organic. Along with the national organic standards, USDA developed strict labeling rules to help consumers know the exact organic content of the food they buy. The USDA Organic seal also tells you that a product is at least 95 percent organic. We have been questioning to the staff of differents supermarkets about this questions and their answers have been the followings: In Marks and Spencer 2000 people In TESCO 2500 people In Sainsbury ? The total area of organic land and in-conversion land in England as at January 2004 was 258,930 ha.

Whilst the fully organic area has increased by 21% from March 2003, the area of land in-conversion has fallen by 46%. The amount of organic and in-conversion land increased in almost every region although the North West showed a slight fall. The East Midlands region showed a 19%increase in organic and in-conversion land.

Of the organic and in-conversion land, 47% was used for permanent pasture and a further 23% was used for temporary pasture. There have been large increases in the areas used for cereals (21%), other crops (9%) and vegetables (15%). People say organic foods are healthy and tasty. But, to be honest I can not make difference between organic foods and non-organic foods. I dont think the organic foods are going to spread. In many cases, if people see the same category foods and different price. they will select cheaper one. That is the way almost people do. It is same ratio that organic foods section are big and non organic one are small. There is a bigger demanding on non organic foods than organic ones. As a result, to develop the organic products, there are a lot of problem in there.

So I dont think organic food would be usual in the future. Pascual: In my opinion I believe that if one food is more healthy than other you may consume it , because health has no price. However,the reality is very different because the difference of price is quite big and at the end of the month you will notice it in your pocket. If there would be any way to low the prices of organic food this would be perfect. Maybe if these products had a better and massive promotion in the market and the people would decide to buy them,then the Offer of organic products would be higher and the prices lower.

I say yes to the tasty flavour of this product and I must say that I notice it when I eat them,then it would be great to let me afford them each day. I know that is impossible than in the future everybody consume them,but utopically ,this sound incedible and maybe many of healthy problem in human beings would be improve. In conclusion,I agree that organic food are the most healthy and with the best flavour,then if the problem of their prices would be solved, they will be successfully. I think that in the future we will consume them usually.
